SED Rate Letters

April 17, 2017

TO:  COPA Members

Attached are the SED rate setting letters for our 4410 and 853 special education schools.  ( Click on link to view letter: Rate Letter for Preschool and Rate Letter for School-Age ) The 4410 letter requests 4.85% growth and the 853 letter requests 5.2% growth as well as statutory index and other reforms.  Both letters request $8 million for teacher recruitment and retention.  We are extremely pleased by these requests.  If you have any questions on the letters, please contact one of us and we will provide clarification.

But, as in the past few years, the Governor's Division of the Budget may not accept all of the recommendations.  Your COPA team has been working with the Legislature and the Governor's office and will continue to urge that they accept SED's recommendations.  The Education Committee Chairs in both the Senate and the Assembly are writing letters to the Governor in support of these SED recommendations.

We would also suggest that you contact your local legislators and ask them to sign on to these letters in support of the SED recommendations.

We will keep you informed and please contact us with any questions.

Please contact your COPA team for further information or questions.
