Membership Committees

 
Adult Day Services
Directors and administrative staff of programs which support adult individuals through a variety of services funded by OPWDD attend these meetings.   Attendees collaborate on issues, share information, keep abreast of new developments and help recommend positions to IAC regarding the way services are provided.  Issues and opportunities related to Day Habilitation, Supported Employment, Pre-vocational supports and a wide array of other day services are discussed.  At some meetings, State officials and other presenters provide the group with information on new initiatives and at others, attendees identify issues to be addressed by IAC.  For more information contact This email address is being protected from spambots. Clinical Services  
Representatives of member agencies which provide Article 16 and/or 28 clinics meet to discuss regulatory requirements, program and fiscal procedures. There is strong emphasis on billing, compliance, service delivery, electronic billing and records, clinical practices as well as administrative oversight. Early Intervention   
Focus is entirely on the NYS Early Intervention Program for children birth through three years of age. Topics include all operational and fiscal issues in the various counties, as well as discussion of NYS regulations, city/county contract provisions, EI to preschool transition process as well as Medicaid compliance issues related to Early Intervention services. Education  
Administrators and professionals from special education preschool (§4410) and school age (853) programs meet to discuss programmatic and fiscal concerns, changes in regulations, and compliance issues. The committee shares information on service models, available resources, compliance tools, staff certification, and transition into adult services. Fiscal Management  
All fiscal aspects of government funding sources, including OPWDD, SED, NYS DOH, and NYCDOH are discussed. Rate setting methodologies, reporting, banking, financing, accounting, and general fiscal management areas are regular areas of conversation. Human Resources   
HR professionals gather to discuss new and innovative approaches to such issues as employee personnel policies, recruitment, health benefit cost containment, and fringe benefits. This group also provides input to IAC regarding our annual surveys on employee benefits and salaries distributed to IAC’s member agencies. Information Technology   
This committee reviews current issues in technology such as security, virtualization, data storage, electronic medical records, and has several on going projects such as best practices for a small agency’s hardware, and model IT end user policies. Integrated Community Support 
Representatives of member agencies meet to share information and concerns regarding service coordination (MSC) and other OPWDD services for children and adults including family support, At Home Res Hab, entitlements and benefits. Public Relations 
Public Relations directors and professionals collaborate on building awareness for our field with the goal of fostering wide spread community support for our issues and services for individuals with developmental disabilities.  The group intends to create on-going positive media attention and to develop strategies to position the services we provide in the best light possible.  In addition, the committee collaborates on how to deal with any potential threats and shares information on innovations in the field.  For more information contact This email address is being protected from spambots. Quality Assurance  
Quality assurance and compliance professionals gather to discuss current trends in the field as well as issues pertaining to governmental regulations, including Medicaid. The goal is also to share service delivery models and other methods to improve the quality of services provided to IAC member agencies. Discussions of audit experiences and auditor practices including strategies for positive outcomes are regularly on the agenda. Residential Services     
OPWDD-funded residential services are the focus of this committee including various service delivery models and sharing of experiences regarding compliance with current governmental regulations and practices. Regular topics include vacancy management, fire safety practices, program development, staffing issues, services for elderly and other special groups, audits and other related issues. Training Directors
Staff training models for all program areas are shared and discussed including new regulatory-required trainings and changes in existing requirements. Linking training to quality assurance and compliance needs and its impact on the service delivery system are discussed and evaluated.
